Bingo in Sumiton?
SUMITON — A building currently being constructed in Sumiton has residents fuming. The building is located on Rouse Road and is allegedly being built to house an electronic bingo hall. Several Sumiton residents have joined together to form the Concerned Citizens of Sumiton and will be holding a meeting in conjunction with the Walker County Political Accountability Coalition Monday night at 6:30 at the Sumiton Senior Center to disclose all the information they’ve gathered about the possible bingo site.

Bevill State gets grant for business incubator
U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) has secured $300,000 for Bevill State Community College to make needed renovations and improvements to its business incubator located in the Bevill Industrial Park on Industrial Parkway in Jasper. “Promoting entrepreneurship and small business are important to the community, and Bevill State’s business incubator program plays a crucial role in making this happen,” Aderholt said. The incubator consists of two buildings for businesses and office space in the front. Once renovated, the incubator will allow businesses to rent one of the divided areas in the two buildings for a small fee to give their businesses a chance to grow.
